About Ernest Wildenhain
Art has always been my passion. At Rutgers, I sold oil paintings to help pay tuition. After graduation I put aside my brushes to enter the Army and become an advisor to Montagnard tribes in the Vietnamese central highlands. Those gentle people were often victims of discrimination due to their Malayo-Polynesian origins and their faith in animism which holds that all things have a soul and are spiritual. Indeed, their innate sense of beauty & equity inspired me to study law at the University of Denver where I received a JD degree in 1972. Thereafter I practiced law for 50 years. Now in retirement, I have returned to painting with brushes rather than words. I use of gel pens and pastels which produce pictures of vibrant color with a contemporary spirit.
